Mister Imagines Toy Store

A toy store with no toys, but if you can imagine it we've got it.

Case study

The Chicago Children’s Museum’s UNBOXED exhibit is an adventure in cardboard, encouraging children to use their imaginations. So when we were asked to help promote the exhibit the answer was simple and Mister Imagines Toy Store was born in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago.

A toy store with no toys, but only selling cardboard boxes, children had a blast choosing their box in our magically toy store and turning it into their own creation. Each box had 1 of 30 different illustrations, everything from Robots to Fairy Princesses to inspire the children. Each box also had an augmented reality marker on the back, children could take their box to a monitor housed in a giant castle and see a 3D animation of what their toy might be.

Once done building their toy children and their parents showed off their creation at a 4 foot polaroid camera photobooth made of cardboard and filled with arduino technical magic.

I could continue on telling you what a great success the store was, but I’ll share a few kind words from the likes of PSFK, FOX and Time Out Chicago.
